Can oxyblast be the answer for Poulrty Producers?

Here’s what I can report as anecdotal evidence without making any claims that Oxy Blast will protect birds from the Avian Flu:
1) You are right, to our knowledge none of our customers that have used Oxy Blast on their entire farm, at the levels we recommend for improving their water, have gotten the Avian Flu.
2) We know of several locations in east-central South Dakota that were hard hit with the Avian Flu, but the buildings using Oxy Blast that were as close as a mile away did not get the Avian Flu.
3) Another location in South Dakota had a building of layers and building of broiler chickens on Oxy Blast that did not come down with the Avian Flu, while a third building with turkeys on the same site that were not given Oxy Blast, did break with the Avian Flu. Unfortunately, all the birds on that site had to be destroyed.
4) In the hardest hit county in Minnesota, we had a turkey grower that tried to protect their turkey poults with plain hydrogen peroxide, but that site got hit with the Avian Flu on one of their sites. They put two of their other sites on Oxy Blast and they remained clean.
5) We have a distributor that has been selling Oxy Blast in Belize (next to Mexico) for over a year and even though they raise most of their chickens outdoors (which are more susceptible to fly-over birds giving them the Avian Flu) the Oxy Blast-treated chickens were the only ones that did not get the Avian Flu.
Again, please understand we have not done any official research to prove Oxy Blast can protect poultry from the Avian Flu. We are trying to get our product tested, but that is a very slow process.
We cannot guarantee that a particular site will not get the Avian Flu by using Oxy Blast, but when growers do use it they see some nice side benefits like lower death loss, better daily gains, and better feed efficiency or more eggs and less cracked eggs.
I hope that gives you some perspective of what our growers tell us, without making any claims of improved health. As you know, we can’t make health claims because our product has not been evaluated by the FDA.
WATER MAINTENANCE AND POULTRY PRODUCTION
Paralyzing Effects of Poor Water Quality In Poultry today
It has become very clear that before we can clean up water to increase water consumption in Poultry, we need to know how to address the negative factors found in water analysis. We need to know what roles these factors have on dehydration. Poor water quality reduces consumption and retention along with health and growth of the bird.
Each location need be addressed separately using the right companion products that compliment one another in making water a more effective tool in poultry health. Looking at the companion products, the producer has the choice to choose which fit their water analysis the best to increase hydration.
1. Buffered inorganic pH adjuster – help in eliminating pathogenic bacteria and promote healthy gut flora optimum pH should be between 5 & 6.5 pH. Pathogenic bacteria prefer alkaline environments while beneficial bacteria prefer a more acidic environment. Buffered pH adjusters ensure they reach the gut in their complete form. They work in the gut by passing through the cell wall where they dissociate and lower the pH inside the bacteria. This disrupts the bacteria’s metabolism and prevents pathogenic bacteria survival.
2. Stabilized peroxide – Oxy Blast being a stabilized peroxide addresses the water when parameters as coliform bacteria persist and increases oxidation potential with the assistance of buffered acids to increase dissolved oxygen levels to speed immune response within the bird.
3. Sequestering agent (CSP) – removes hardness by forming molecules in which ions can no longer react together such as calcium and magnesium to decrease water retention.
4. Direct fed liquid microbial (Momentum) – to optimize immune response by inoculating the GI tract with beneficial symbiotic bacteria to increase digestion and utilization of feed. Note! The GI tract makes up approx. 75% of the immune system.
5. Structured water (NU Force) – Changing molecular structure of water to fast forward motion to respond to foreign invaders such as bacteria, viruses and toxins with companion products to help rid them.
Poultry production today requires stricter management due to poor water quality. Poor water quality consistently challenges the immune system putting immune response in reverse.
Immune response today more than ever before needs to be in fast forward motion to respond to foreign invaders such as bacteria, viruses and toxins and deal with them.
Reduced water intake and retention are responsible for dehydration indulging on immune response slowing down the mobility of natural defense mechanisms in poultry. This defense is responsible in fighting off foreign invaders and subject to removal.
Remember! A good water management program will increase a bird’s quality of life and health.
Practical Steps To Clean Water
By Terence O’Keefe (from the January 2007 Watt Poultry USA magazine)
Providing a clean, safe and sanitized water supply is vital for flock health and good bird performance, according to Dr. Susan Watkins, poultry extension specialist at the University of Arkansas. Dr. Watkins spoke at the U.S. Poultry & Egg Association’s Poultry Production and Health Seminar.
Dr. Watkins says that you need to clean the entire water system before the chicks arrive to remove any biofilm and scale that has built up in the lines that can act as a food source and hiding place for harmful pathogens. Proper line cleaning can help prevent calcium deposits or scale build-up which can reduce pipe volume by as much as 70 – 80 percent.
Some of the most effective sanitizers, which are not damaging to the drinker system, are the concentrated, stabilized hydrogen peroxides.
Finally Watkins said, “Cleaning the waterlines between flocks is only half the battle. Even with a thorough cleaning, if a significant number of bacteria, fungi or yeast are still present, then the biofilm has the potential to return completely in two to three days.
Therefore, the last step is to establish a daily water sanitation program. This will benefit both the birds and the water system.”
Our Comments:
Oxy Blast has the best stabilizing package of any hydrogen peroxide product on the market, plus it comes with a unique proprietary formula that no other hydrogen peroxide product on the market offers. Even though Dr. Watkins is referring to a clean water supply for flock health, I think it goes without saying that any species could benefit from good quality water.
